End of an era: Saying goodbye to Nick Torrance

When I first started Balance In Motion it was in a room above a chicken shop. A basic space with a physio bed, some scissors and some strapping tape that I fondly referred to as a clinic.

I knew nothing about business. I just truly believed in Connect Therapy and was probably the first Connect Therapy clinic in Australasia. Pretty wild it was just a physio bed above a chicken shop…

I had worked in traditional Physio clinics seeing someone every 20 mins, watching them do their exercises wrong but I didn’t have time to correct them.

I was disillusioned, so I wanted to do things differently. Longer session duration, treating the whole body, and getting to the root causes.

I didn't know anything about hiring but began attracting legends that believed in the vision. No recipes, factory physio and no machines.

Two of the OG’s are still at BIM to this day; Matt and Nick C.

Matt has taken the reins of the Bondi clinic, and Nick will naturally be taking on the city. I can’t say enough about the loyalty and dedication to the craft that these two share. They are special. They care about helping you from a deep visceral part of themselves. In my heart of hearts it’s the right time for me to move on and to leave them to evolve and grow BIM to the next level.

I want to thank the staff that believed in the vision; you taught me how to be a better person.

I want to thank my patients; I still wonder how you are all doing. Sometimes I still lie awake beating myself up over those that I couldn't help.

I want to thank the doctors, trainers and other legends out there who referred me to their patients, friends and family. I owe you so much, Coby, Tom Cross, Di Robinson, Geoff Meers, Todd Ridge, Chicken, MJ and Azza, Danny Moore, Chris Hanrahan, Andrew Griffin, Matt Waterton, Bruce Solomon , Veronika Larisova, Libby, Toby and the many others. You became my friends as well as colleagues.

For those of you curious as to what I’m up to now, I'm raising my three kids on an island in the Hauraki Gulf of NZ called Waiheke Island. I do a bit of physio still, but have embarked on a career change of sorts. I’m now a small business and life coach. I personally have found coaching incredibly beneficial and so I’ve gone all in, studying constantly for the past two years. It would mean the world to me if you could give me a follow on instagram by clicking HERE or following @nicktorranceofficial. Feel free to sign up to my newsletter by clicking HERE for more crap talking. If you ever find yourself in NZ and want to drink some wine on Waiheke send me a DM through my instagram.

Much love to you all. Sydney has been very good to me and I consider myself half Australian, my two eldest kids' accents remind me of that every day.

Nick Torrance

Forever the BIM OG (sorry I had to add it Nick)
